Uncommon Sense
When fascism comes . . .

November 20, 2004—Senator Robert Byrd may not be a saint, but he is most definitely a prophet. When he said before the election that George W. Bush was "bent on a ruthless pursuit of power" that threatens to "destroy the Constitution," he was unquestionably speaking prophetically—Bush has stolen another presidential term.

For the benefit of media-programmed readers who, upon reading this, are immediately thinking "conspiracy theory," consider this fact: the idea that Bush "won" is just as much of an unproven "theory" as the idea he stole the election. Why? Because America, unlike other so-called "democracies," does not allow the public to observe exactly how the Republican-affiliated private companies that actually count democracy's most sacred treasure—the vote—count the votes. The vote accounting process is private corporate property—off limits to the public.

As Josef Stalin said, "It's not who votes that counts. It's who counts the votes."

This is the very essence of fascism.

A University of Pennsylvania statistician has calculated that there is only a one in 250 million chance that the exit poll discrepancies—that occurred, curiously enough, only in the battleground states—happened randomly. In other words, there is a 250 million to one chance that the vote was rigged. Pretty good odds.

Why is it that the total number of votes for congressional candidates is the reverse of the presidential count: 59.6 million for Democrats, 57.6 million Republicans? Why did all the major voting problems happen almost exclusively in Democratic precincts? And why do the media consider this violation of voting rights just "politics as usual?" Why are they ignoring this important story?

There is no denying, on the other hand, the widely-reported news that Republican election officials all over the nation, but especially in Florida and Ohio, did everything in their power to obstruct, suppress and defraud the Democratic vote; and that, in a number of states, a Republican-hired voter registration firm, Sproul and Associates, is accused of illegally throwing away Democratic registration forms. These acts alone constitute outright attempts at election theft, and should be grounds for impeachment: conspiracy to steal public office. Let's establish judicially that, in the case of the Bush family, "conspiracy" is not a "theory," but a well-documented fact.

Add to the conspiracy charges: gross malfeasance and negligence; egregious, transparent conflict of interest; illegally invading another sovereign nation; and unspeakable war crimes; and you have a case for removing the entire malicious Bush regime.

On a historical note, it's worth observing that Adolph Hitler was put into office by three major constituencies: big business, to whom Hitler had covertly promised to destroy the labor unions; the military and defense industry, who supported Hitler's vow to reject the restrictions on the German military in the Treaty of Versailles, which ended WWI; and Hitler's biggest voting bloc, rural religious conservatives, who agreed—with cruel enthusiasm—with Hitler's ferocious condemnations of communists, homosexuals and Jews.

Substitute "Muslims" for "Jews," and the paragraph above provides a very accurate portrayal of today's Republican Party—the right-wing Pharisees who call themselves "Christians," blindly loyal to their Davidic warrior king, hating and fearing any deviation from their narrowly-interpreted scriptural ideology, and seeking, in their heart of hearts, to replace the Constitution with the Bible.

Huey Long once said, "When fascism comes to America, it'll be 100 percent American." But the fascists who now control the United States government (and its major propaganda system) are not 100 percent American. They don't believe in democracy. And that is their Achilles Heel. Because no matter how conservative they may be, most Americans nevertheless believe in the pure democratic right to vote, and don't want to see that lost.

We who wanted to drive George W. Bush from office in 2004 have had our most basic democratic rights violated. In Ohio and Florida—among other places—the deliberate suppression of the vote has deprived us of a fair democratic process.

Justice demands that we refuse to recognize this illegal Bush government. Justice demands that our search for a redress of our legitimate grievances not end until true justice is finally done.

Save America. Impeach Bush.
